On The Silver Screen

There are some stories that feel quiet on the surface but carry an emotional weight that stays with you long after you finish them. I Wish You All the Best is one of those stories.

At its heart, this is a deeply personal and moving coming-of-age story that follows Ben De Backer, a nonbinary teen who is forced to leave home after coming out to their parents. What follows is a journey of rebuilding, healing, and learning how to exist authentically in a world that has not always made space for them.

The film adaptation brings this story into a new medium, offering the chance to see Ben’s journey unfold in a more immediate and visual way. Stories like this are especially powerful on screen because they allow audiences to witness the nuances of identity, vulnerability, and acceptance in real time. What makes this adaptation so important is not just the story itself, but what it represents. It is part of a growing movement toward more inclusive storytelling, where characters are allowed to exist fully as themselves rather than being reduced to a single aspect of their identity.

When Ben De Backer comes out to their parents as nonbinary, they're thrown out of their house and forced to move in with their estranged older sister, Hannah, and her husband, Thomas, whom Ben has never even met. Struggling with an anxiety disorder compounded by their parents' rejection, they come out only to Hannah, Thomas, and their therapist and try to keep a low profile in a new school.

But Ben's attempts to survive the last half of senior year unnoticed are thwarted when Nathan Allan, a funny and charismatic student, decides to take Ben under his wing. As Ben and Nathan's friendship grows, their feelings for each other begin to change, and what started as a disastrous turn of events looks like it might just be a chance to start a happier new life.

Show Buzz

Some stories are built on quiet introspection. Others thrive on tension, chemistry, and the kind of connection that refuses to stay hidden. Heated Rivalry falls firmly into the second category.

Pro hockey star Shane Hollander isn’t just crazy talented, he’s got a spotless reputation. Hockey is his life. Now that he’s captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, he won’t let anything jeopardize that, especially the sexy Russian whose hard body keeps him awake at night.

Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane’s not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he’s as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him—except Shane. They’ve made a career on their legendary rivalry, but when the skates come off, the heat between them is undeniable. When Ilya realizes he wants more than a few secret hookups, he knows he must walk away. The risk is too great.

As their attraction intensifies, they struggle to keep their relationship out of the public eye. If the truth comes out, it could ruin them both. But when their need for each other rivals their ambition on the ice, secrecy is no longer an option.

All episodes of Heated Rivalry are available to stream on Crave and Max.
